Poll: Chuwit's disclosures commended

The majority of people are pleased with Rak Thailand Party leader Chuwit Kamolvasit's disclosure of information he has obtained on illegal gambing dens which have been opened and expected to be opened in Bangkok, Suan Dusit Poll revealed on Sunday.

Most or 77.04 per cent of the people surveyed said Mr Chuwit's disclosures helped them to be more informed, prompted police to be on alert and take necessary actions.

However, 16.01 per cent said there were people who stood to gain and to lose from the disclosures and 6.95 per cent disagreed with Mr Chuwit's action, saying it was not systematic, would cause more conflict in society and make it more difficult for police to perform their duty.

The powers at the time should not have leveled Chewit's business location in the middle of the night for allegedly refusing to pay bribe money any longer. Revenge is a big thing in Thai society, and casinos are grossly illegal.

Chuwit should be rewarded when his information leading to the arrest and persecution of criminals. He should cooperate closely with the authorities so that his information were not just decoys.

Why not have 1 or 2 legal casino's? then at least it can be controlled. Even an income for the country.(maximum limit set on all individuals).Oh and the oldest profession in the world also. They would have to have a licence and health checks, pay tax etc.
Never forget though, there is only one winner in a casino and thats the casino.

There'll always be that ugly 30 percent or so that would even disagree with saving children lives.

If Chuwit wasn't right about the gambling dens before, then why did the government replace the last police chief? Oh, I forgot. They needed an excuse to give the job to Thaksin's brother in law instead of the most qualified person. I'm sure Chuwit was right anyway.

D2: wouldn't work. Police don't want their mug shots on the show.

I'm wondering if they have a 'Crimestoppers' program here similar to what exists in many other countries, where you can phone in a tip in complete confidence and be rewarded financially if charges are laid.

Name one of Chuwit's disclosures that has been proved right?
