Greece forces overtime in critical debt talks

Greece on Sunday insisted on extending critical talks on a debt rescue into Monday, as the government's coalition backers denounced pressure from public creditors to pass harsher austerity measures.

Greek Prime Minister Lucas Papademos (2nd R) poses with far-right Laos party leader George Karantzaferis (L), conservative New Democracy party leader Antonis Samaras (2nd L) and Greek Socialist party (PASOK) leader George Papandreou before an emergency meeting at his office in Athens. Critical talks on a Greek debt rescue will over-run until Monday, the country's leaders said.

After a five-hour meeting with his socialist, conservative and far-right allies, Prime Minister Prime Minister Lucas Papademos said the talks would continue on Monday, and that agreement had been reached on many issues.

“”George Karatzaferis, whose far-right party LAOS is one of the coalition's three partners, on Saturday threatened to reject the euro zone bailout deal.”I do not function well under conditions of blackmail," Karatzaferis told a party gathering in the northern city of Thessaloniki. "If the package is not to our liking, we will not accept it," he said.”” This is unbelievable! He wants to borrow the money but doesn’t accept the conditions! Better he doesn’t accept German and other countries taxpayer will be happy to hear this!
