79 districts now drought areas

A total of 79 districts in 13 provinces have been declared drought zones, affecting people in 4,743 villages, Wibul Sanguanpong, director general of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department, said on Friday.

The department on Thursday declared another 11 provinces drought areas.

Of the total 13, eight provinces are in the North: Lampang, Lamphun, Sukhothai, Nan, Phayao, Kampaeng Phet, Uttaradit and Phitsanulok.
