Worst trait: driving against traffic flow

Motorists driving counter to the flow of traffic and motorcyclists not wearing a crash helmet were regarded as the worst traits of the Thai public, an Abac Poll revealed on Sunday.

The poll was conducted between Feb 1-11 on 1,378 people in Bangkok and nearby provinces.

Asked what they thought are the 10 worst behaviours of Thai people in public, they said:

Perhaps they should poll driving while under the influence of liquor as the first of the worst
public behaviors and among the top cause of death on public roads !

Last week in a village near me, two girls age 13 and 14, were driving on a motorbike against traffic. No helmets. Some how they drifted into on coming traffic. A ten wheeler hit them head on. Who's fault? I say the government for not carrying about people not knowing the rules of the road, police for not enforcing the rules of the road, parents for making sure their children follow the rules of the road and the girls for not knowing what the rules of the road are. But then again. are there rules of the road? No education on how to drive. Just learn from someone else that doesn't know how to drive. Very sad.

A very small survey but the result is pretty accurate. Particularly on the behaviour poll.

Unfortunately behaviour is passed down from parents or other role models so it just keeps going from one generation to the next. It will take a major upheaval to turn that around. Is Thailand capable of such an upheaval ? Sadly, I doubt it.

Disc #4 it is not that it is a hopeless country as you state. It is just that people don't know any other way.

I have nothing against the bikers not wearing helmets because it's their heads not mine; but driving against the traffic or on the sidewalks and just about everywhere and anywhere by the bikers, that's unacceptable because they are the main cause of accidents.

Hopeless country! Because is not formed by the educational institutes but from the TV drama! This is a real jungle, no education and a no sense of human responsibility! There is a lot of avidity regarding power and money! Maybe one day in a late future something can change!

Have you noticed that the darker the window tint the more obnoxious the behaviour.

What about the use of the mobile in the car. How many times have you had to dodge or honk to get some drifter away, particularly young female drivers.

Not a bad poll at all. All is true. Does this mean that no one will vote at the next election?
But do the people of Thailand know what being snobbish is? sometimes if a person is shy it can be mistaken for being snobbish. They maybe very good at talking in public but in person to person they may be shy. As for driving without a crash helmet, about 95% do that in bangkok.what is more scary is that they have children with them aswell sometimes 3 or 4 on a motorbike, no crash helmet, it canwipe out an entire family in one go.I am still horrified by this now when i see it.
As for smoking, thats a laugh really, All the pollution from cars, factories, etc in bangkok, do more harm, It alters the g12 gene which then causes cancer, wearing face masks does not help at all. They need to be bio masks.
