Under-18s Valentine's curfew in Tak

Police in Tak’s Mae Sot district will enforce an 8pm curfew on teens under 18 on Valentine’s Day on Tuesday to keep them out of trouble, Mae Sot police chief Dejchart Wattanapanom said on Monday.

Pol Col Dejchart said the ban, enforced under the Child Protection Act, was mainly aimed at keeping young girls from being seduced or raped by their partners or molested by gangs.

The curfew prevents under-18s from going out after 8pm unless escorted by an adult.

    Instead of trying to suppress kids one day a year why dont you try parenting them the other 364 days .

    I have news for the authorities. If they are going to do it, they will do it, curfew or not. Logic would lead one to educate them about the possibility of pregnancy, STDs, and AIDS even to the point of giving out condoms to those that will even when parents and authorities say they can't.

    @rontorr Disc 1

    These pictures are from young people !!!
    Nowadays they don´t behave like the older people.

    Ridiculous! Like in most countries of this world - you should educate the kids - not lock them up. And by the way: what is the police going to do with the unaccompanied 16 year old mother of 2 kids who is going to buy milk for her babies at 9 pm. Arrest her?

    What a sad commentary for Thailand. Having to set an 8PM curfew to stop girls from being raped, seduced or molested by gangs.

    “The curfew prevents under-18s from going out after 8pm unless escorted by an adult.”
    So a 16 year old girl with her 18 year old boyfriend (= adult) is ok, correct?
    And a 40 year old guy with a couple of underage schoolgirls is also absolute acceptable under this regulation.
