Rival groups rally at parliament

Two groups of people, proponents and opponents of charter amendment, are rallying in front of parliament.

The charter amendment supporters in red shirts are gathering on the footpath in front of the Dusit Zoo.

Those opposed to charter amendment, the group of multi-colours led by Dr Tul Sitthisomwong, are gathering at the Uthong Nai intersection.

I understand both sides feeling the need to demonstrate. Democracy is anything but straight-forward in Thailand.

One group knows the military could side with it and magnify its power a thousand-fold.

The other side, knowing this too wants to show it does not intend on letting the tiny minority take control of events again.

If democracy works yes, demonstrations must be allowed.

But if democracy works well, people would be far less inclined to use force of presence in the streets.
