The consumer confidence index on the overall economic outlook for February stood at 65.5, up from 64.0 reported in January, the Economic and Business Forecasting Centre at the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce said on Friday.
The consumer confidence index on job opportunity in the months rose to 66.7 and to 94.3 for the confidence index on future income. All consumer confidence indices were up for three straight months, according to the centre.
The centre said the positive factors that boosted consumers’ confidence were the ruling by the Constitution Court that the government’s two financial executve decrees to rehabilitate and rebuild the country were constitutional, the National Economic and Social Development Board’s increase in its economic growth projection for the year to 5.5-6.5 per cent from the previous prediction of 4.5-5.5 per cent, the strengthening of the Thai baht and the increase in the SET index by 76.93 points in February.
