Court dismisses case against Abhisit

The Constitution Court on Friday dismissed the petitions filed by the Pheu Thai Party against Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva and Democrat MP for Phitsanulok Warong Dejkitvikrom for an alleged constitutional violation in handling out relief supplies during the great flood late last year, reports said.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra's party asked the court to rule whether Mr Abhisit, the opposition leader, and Mr Warong should be stripped of their parliamentary status, and alleged that as MPs they wrongfully interfered in the operations of state officials by handing out flood relief bags to flood victims in Phitsanulok.

The court ruled that the accusation was groundless and that the distribution of relief bags was aimed at helping people affected by the flooding.
