'Uncle SMS' dies in prison hospital

Ampon Tangnoppakhun, alias Uncle SMS or Ah Kong, who was sentenced to 20 years in jail for lese majeste, died at a hospital in prison on Tuesday morning, reports said.

Ampon, 61, a Samut Prakan resident, was convicted of sending four text messages with offensive content in May last year to the personal secretary of then prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva.
