Virabongsa new BoT chairman

Virabongsa Ramangura was elected six to one chairman of the Bank of Thailand’s executive board by the central bank’s selection committee on Monday, an informed source said.

Other two candidates for the BoT board chairman post were former BoT chairman Chatumongkol Sonakul and former rector of Chulalongkorn University Thienchai Keeranand.

Mr Virabongsa, chairman of the Strategic Committee for Reconstruction and Future Development, will replace MR Chatumongkol Sonakul whose term ended last month.
