About 20 red shirts under the name of the network of democratic society activists have submitted a letter to Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra calling for the government to review its refusal to amend Article 112 of the Criminal Code, the lese majeste law.
The network, led by Jitra Kachadej, also called for the government to release prisoners in poltically related and lese majeste cases as proposed by the Nitirat Group of Thammasat University lecturers and the Truth for Reconciliation Commission, and to look into the welfare of those prisoners in terms of medical care, food and living conditions.
The red-shirts, wearing black, gathered and raised placards stating: "No to 112", "Free Surachai",and "Stop Using Article 112 as pa olitical tool" at a bus stop beside the Government House wall. They repeatedly shouted "Amend 112" in the hot sun for about one hour before Deputy Prime Minister Yongyuth Wichaidit came out to take their letter.
