BoT: Don't expect low key rate policy

The National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB) should not have high hopes that the central bank will implement a low interest rate policy to help stimulate the economy, Bank of Thailand governor Prasarn Trairatvorakul said on Thursday.
Mr Prasarn was responding to the proposal by the NESDB that the central bank should come up with a low policy rate to fully enhance post-flood investment and domestic consumption.
“The government’s think tank should not hope too much in this matter because people's consumption and private investment sometimes do not depend only on the interest rate aspect.
