The Campaign Committee for the Amendment of Article 112 (CCAA112) on Tuesday submitted a bill seeking to amend Article 112 of the Criminal Code, the lese majeste law, to the House of Representatives for consideration.
The draft legislation, signed by 12,217 people, was handed to Wisuth Chainarun, the second deputy speaker, by CCAA112 representatives who included Charnwit Kasetsiri, an academic in history and politics, Puangthong Pawakrapan, a political science lecturer at Chulalongkorn University, Rawee Siri-issaranant, of the Saeng-Samnuek Writers Group, and Charan Ditha-apichai, a former member of the National Human Rights Commission.
Mrs Puangthong said Article 112 needed to be amended because it had infringed on the basic rights of expression of the people and caused trouble for a large number of people.
