Poll: Suthep playing political game

A majority of people think Democrat Party MP Suthep Thaugsuban was playing political games when he claimed former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra sent middlemen to sound out the party about joining in a national government with Pheu Thai in exchange for not opposing the charter amendment bill and reconciliation bills, according the results of a Suan Dusit Poll released on Wednesday.

The pollsters surveyed 1,398 people in Bangkok and nearby provinces between June 18-20.

Now everyone clearly sees what sits on the top of the wish list of Suthep and the Dems: Thaksin and/or PT send some men and/or women to Suthep and the Dems, with a great offer. I suggest Suthep and the Dems to never forget that the reason for many voters to vote for PT because they wanted to vote the Dems out.

Sorry, but I have trouble believing the credibility of any man who states: "We didn't mean to kill anyone. They died when they ran into bullets."

The really encouraging stat is "84.12 per cent of the respondents said a government without an opposition (a unity government) was not acceptable to them". This shows a level of political maturity is definitely developing.

Even the poll clearly showed that a huge majority of Thai people do not trust Suthep. I still insist that Suthep is the best leader of Thailand, who made the country a leader and role model in the international community.

Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra has denied engaging in a talk on inviting the Democrats to join the Pheu Thai-led coalition, his legal adviser Noppadon Pattama said on Tuesday.

I am a bit surprised that I agree with so many....Mr Sutthep was never coming across as thrust worthy , not a guy you would buy a 2nd hand car from :)

This poll is revealing. Are political games being played ? Yes. Do they believe Suthep ? About 48 % are unsure - the most populous of the responses. Only 29 % don't believe him. What does this tell us ? It tells us that this highly novel political game that is being played could possibly be called the truth. 84 % believe that not having an opposition is unacceptable. 16 % said it was, so basically there's the UDD base right there, which is quite revealing in itself.

Yet only 29% think he's lying.

The big question here is: If thaksin didn't send people why hasn't he denied the claim by Suthep?
