Dems target Thaksin's son

The Democrats are seeking to take criminal action against Panthongtae Shinawatra, son of former prime minister Thaksin, for alleged involvement in a case involving a 9.9-billion-baht loan from Krung Thai Bank.

Deputy Democrat spokeswoman Mallika Boonmeetrakul on Monday submitted a letter to Attorney-General Chulasingh Vasantasingh asking for an explanation why the Office of the Attorney-General (OAG) and the National Anti-Corruption Commission, which are handling the case, did not press charges against Mr Panthongtae for allegedly receiving stolen property.

Actually, I find this article too sketchy on details to start definitively pointing fingers, first; let's hear the public evidence that Thaksin meddled/ordered KTB bank to extend the loan, and what about charges against the bank managers, loaning to a company in debt administration. Next what is the connection between Krisdamahanakorn and the Shinawatras, did any of them have any involvement or ownership, and how did it come to be in debt administration in the first place. Finally, why was the money transferred to Panthongtae and what was 'dishonest' about it. Sure, it doesn't surprise me when you connect 'Shinawatra, loan, Suvarnabhumi, land, relative' in one sentence but there's alot more to this story no doubt. Come on BP investigative journalists, go to work, this sounds similar to the Alpine Golf Course scandal, which itself demonstrated what is wrong with this country's political/business ethics.

The Anti-elite brigade are so eager to attack PAD/Dems as being 'ammaat'. But when a story regarding a Shinawatra emerges, they are prepared to put forward any defence... Or even none at all.
Look at your comments... None of you have even TRIED to offer a credible scenario for the 9.9 billion baht being placed into the PM's son's account. You've simply ignored that fact and tried to create a conspiracy theory about the poor billionaire son being attacked by heartless Democrats.

Actually, Thaksin's maid, chauffeur, gardener etc were all multi-millionaires. Why shouldn't his son be?

The majority of Thai people are many hard working, honest, and righteous people. These are the people that make Thailand a place that tourists want to visit. On the other side of the coin, we have people like this kid. He is educated and even though he knows his actions are wrong and go against the rule of Thai law, he still participates. He believes solely because of his father, he is untouchable and above the law. If Thailand wants to be a true democracy, start enforcing the law for ALL. It should be pretty easy to prove this case and if ALL Thai's, (the police and the judicial) do their duty for the Country and not for money, it would easy to put these criminals in jail and make Thailand a better place for all.

I'm not surprised to see the usual UDD supporters on defending Thaksin's son immediately.

I'll give you credit if you can think of a good reason why the money should have been transferred into Thaksin's son's account.

DEMs are unable to attack and defeat PM Yingluck, House Speaker Somsak, Minister Surapong, Deputy PM Chalerm, Minister Nalinee, Minister Plodprasop. Now the DEMs change their target to Thaksin's son.

this is the problem when certain politicans and the elite puts themselves above the law and gets away with it not a good example to their humble people or around the world we hope the law is seen to be working in thailand if found guilty an early conviction would certainly speed up a reconcile
