Phone booths burned in Pattani

Five public telephone booths were set on fire last night in Muang district of Pattani province, police said.

Pol Col Somphon Meesuk, the Muang district police chief, said witnesses told police that two men arrived on a motorcycle at two telephone booths in front of the central mosque of Pattani in tambon Chabang Tiko about 7pm, threw pieces of cloth soaked with petrol into the booths and lit them before fleeing the scene.

About the same time, two other groups of men set fire to two telephone booths in front of Chongrak Witthaya School in tambon Barahom and another booth in front of Pattana Islam School in tambon Baraho.
