PAO transgender defends wearing skirt

Yollada "Nok" Suanyos, a transgender councillor on the Nan provincial administration organisation, says he has been criticised by many people for wearing a skirt to work and has called on the public to give equal rights to transgender people.

"I don't want to breach regulations or offend our culture, but I've been living as a woman for some time now," Mr Yollada said. "So I've decided to wear a woman's uniform, with dignity and with respect for the regulations."

In many countries, those who have "gender reassignment surgery" are indeed allowed to change their sex legally. Thailand says no. I just bothered to take a look at Yollada's name plate on her desk. It says "Mr. Yollada".

If a person has a full sex change they should be able to change from Mr to Miss .

The law does not mind somebody changes his sex, but the law does not allow to change 'Mr' to 'Ms' ?
Don't worry, some day, the law will catch up with reality.

I think that the 'online reporter' should learn some manners and refer to Yollada as she and her. I don't know whether they are doing it to intentionally cause offense, but it is not worthy. It's time people offered others respect, surely this is the Thai way? You owe her an apology, 'online reporter'.

In the late 1980s there was a transsexual fashion model who tried to have her passport changed from male to female. She said it always caused problems when she went to Europe to model. The Thai courts refused, the judge saying a woman had to be capable of bearing a child - something transsexuals physically are not. As far as I know, that ruling has never been changed. That is why transsexuals are complaining, now that there are far more than 25 years ago. (That fashion model still appears in television commercials.)

A drama major? They are the only wannabe trannies who got away with wearing female student uniforms at Thammasat.

Nok, go, proceed! Ir will take several more decades, if ever, until "rules and regulations" will catch up with reality!

This is a good looking woman who should be given her rights. There are no laws on who is handsome or beautiful.

I think it's the easiest thing in the world to call people by the pronoun they want.
I see mixed pronouns in this article, whether by design or accident it's interesting.

Disc 1 - "you should be wearing the same uniform as all others who are called HE" Why?
As long as you can do your job, what does it matter which uniform you wear?

Thailand is a pretty open society, and Thais doesn't really care much what he / she wears. The question should be how is his / her works ethics?
