Poll: People unsure about charter bill

Most Thais are not sure if the bill to amend Section 291 of the constitution is intended to abolish the country's administration and constitutional monarchy under Section 68 of the constitution, according to the results of a Suan Dusit Poll survey revealed on Sunday.

In responding to a question whether they think the charter amendment bill - aimed to amend Section 291 to make way for the establishment of an assembly to draft a new constitution - is unconstutional under Section 68, 45.93 per cent said they were not sure and 29.66 per cent said they did not think it is.

Only 24.41 per cent thought it was intended to abolish the democratic administration and constitutional monarchy as alleged by the bill's opponents.

Clueless as usual. But react when paid appropriately.

Unfair questions unless all these polled watched the court proceedings. Do a poll with only those who watched the proceedings.

to#3 : "The poll is therefore unlikely to be representative of national opinion as a whole"

Anyway you could say this about all polls, but it cannot have smoke without fire....

The saddest thing about these polls is that they're the only current form of objective public input into this process there is. Why is that ? Because outside of the rare election, the politicians are quite happy to keep the public conveniently silent, while the " grown-ups " take over.

"The poll was conducted between July 6-7 on 1,389 people in Bangkok and nearby provinces" and is therefore unlikely to be representative of national opinion as a whole.

This has all come about because of the fugitive in Dubai pulling strings. If this country thinks it will benefit from an absolute Government, able to do what it wants, when it wants, then they should vote for the charter bill. Most of it is window dressing, it's been tabled to try and get the fugitive back, nothing else.
