PAD threatens to hit streets

The People's Alliance for Democracy will bring its supporters onto the streets again if Parliament goes ahead with passage of the constitutional amendment bill on its third reading, says Maj Gen Chamlong Srimuang, a PAD core leader.

Maj Gen Chamlong made the pledge on Saturday, a day after the Constitution Court ruled on the Pheu Thai government's plans to change the charter. The court recommended that if the constitution is to be rewritten in its entirety, there should be a public referendum because the 2007 Constitution was endorsed by a referendum. Alternatively, sections of the charter can be amended without a public vote, it said.Maj Gen Chamlong said the court’s recommendation was right, but he believed Pheu Thai would try in every way to ensure that Parliament endorses the bill in its final reading when the House reconvenes on Aug 1.The yellow-shirt movement of PAD supporters would closely monitor developments and as soon as the bill enters its third...

I wonder who is financing the PAD demonstrators and organization as such, I doubt that anyone is gullible enough to believe that the PAD is a truly non paid volunteer based organization ? And if they get paid what do the sponsors expect in return ?

Debating over vote counts is irrelevant when the GE is conducted based on number of seats. I believe PTP is most happy to have a referendum but doing so without amending 291 is illegal and unconstitutional. The prachathipat party is too scared of the amendment because they will fail miserably again. So, they came up with the slanderous accusation using 68 and CC to block amendment to avoid a referendum.

The bill has passed the scrutiny of the court and now can be passed by the law. The referendum is up to the ministers if they deem it neccessary. The pad have the right to assmeble and protest.

Wasn't Maj Ben Chamlong one of the core PAD leaders who ordered the siege of Government House and the occupation of Bangkok's two primary airports? Here he is threatening civil disobedience again. This is what happens when repeat offenders are not properly dealt with by the courts.

    @ricefield, d 34.

And you missed lek's point completely.

Even if PT had won by 51% or 70%, they should still consider the view of the whole country, not just those who voted for them.

Remember a few years ago when Thaksin showed his true colors and told the country that the provinces that did not vote for him, would not get any assistance/benefits if he won?

As per Wikipedia's "Politics of Thailand" introduction, particularily the last sentence I quote:
It is arguable, however, that stability was never the objective, that instead elites used the government as an interim tool to 'officialize' its declarations and continued status, ...end of quote. It's about fighting factions among old and new elites, bureaucrats, and generals.
Yes indeed it was, is and likely will be so for a long time to come, as too much corruption money is at stake.

dics 35# If we need politicians, let them prove it by helping people instead of treating us as their property.

it truly speaks with this current government.

Reason, Disc 36. You must be a very good hearted person to have such optimistic thoughts. The land of the free, the land of smiles would never tolerate such a compromising thought that could bring harmony. Many would lose their identity from the media.

Seeing what those groups of people invest and willing to do to fight their causes; It makes me think:
"where would Thailand be if all efforts an thoughts spent by both sides (red and yellow) were to be all spent for the good of the country instead?"
My guess would be, anywhere way further than where it is now.
But the reality is so sad and shameful
