Thaksin 'approves' change by sections

Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra agrees with amending the constitution section by section, Pheu Thai Party list MP Sanoh Thienthong said in an interview at his Muang Thong Thani residence on Monday.

Mr Sanoh said he met Thaksin when he and his wife Uraiwan went to Hong Kong on July 19-20 to wish him a happy birthday.  Thaksin's birthday is on July 26.

They met for about three hours at a dinner, during which Thaksin said he did not feel disappointed by the Constitution Court's ruling on the legality of the charter amendment bill, he said.

englishbob #22 - You said "Because Mr Thaksin told him to, of course."
Wow, I did not know you look up to Thaksin so highly.
Third time I am trying to post this.

Sorry but Thaksin didn't say he approves the changes section by section, the article said agrees. According to my limited knowledge of English there are a difference between the two. So why do commentators need to bend his words to prove their point of view? This sentence also looks suspiciously out of context, as it was put in between two sentences regarding the charter changes - Mr Sanoh said Thaksin would let the government continue to administer the country. Onlyasking!

Disc33 Canuck - I'm sorry but how did you distinguish between the 'corrupt elite' and Thaksin Shinawatra?
And then please show an iota of evidence for your ridiculous claim.
If Abhisit is responsible for 22 deaths in 2010, Thaksin is responsible for 3000 deaths during HIS premiership.

Thais, under Thaksin, killed fellow countrymen in much greater numbers during the "war on drugs" and at Krue Se and Tak Bai. Forget those little tidbits of truth?

You forgot that it wasn't Thaksin who killed those people. It was the corrupt Elite who were afraid of going to jail for their illegal drug business.

khunbj - "by the way how is it going with Abhisit's draft dodging case, did he sue already or not yet?"

Has PTP presented evidence yet that he did draft dodge? Don't let facts and reality get in the way of your spin.

    khunbj, d. 26.

I completely agree with you. Thaksin is more important than Abhisit, and everyone else in Thailand for that matter, as he is trying to damage the country and has the means and power to do so.

Anders Breivik (the Norwegian mass murderer) is also quoted in most western newspapers whenever he opens his mouth. He is probably quoted more than both Abhisit and Thaksin combined. He must be a very important person!

Unfortunately most uneducated people consider an important person a respectable person, no matter why he/she is important. That is partly why you often see poor and uneducated Thais paying respect and wai'ing all kinds of officials, even if they know that these same officials are corrupt to the bone, and are stealing the poor's money on a daily basis. In an educated society people would be spitting at such officials.

    Dolphin and Android.
Dems were second in the election. PT got 15m votes. Dems got 11m votes. It only takes 2.5m people to shift their allegiance to change the results. Fewer if coalition partners switch again.

Maybe people who got flooded out? Maybe people who don't want a whitewash bill? Disgruntled rice farmers cheesed off with the lousy rice policy? Business owners who go out of business? People who can't afford the rising cost of living? People sick of the Southern Insurgency out of control? People who don't want to see criminals avoiding punishment? People sick of Thaksin's 'poor lil me' routine.

Peua Thai could easily anger 2.5 million people.

dolphin - "Dems will forever be remembered for killing their fellow countrymen and will never ever be elected in another 20 years."

Whatever happened to the promised roadmap to reconciliation?

The red shirts must wake up dizzy everyday not knowing which direction their master is going to swing on the day.

    @Android, dolphin and others.

True, Abhisit will probably always be remembered for the crackdown on the red shirts where many red shirts (and others) died. However, I think you will find that I and many others praise him for that. Personally I just wish he had ordered the crackdown a few months earlier :-)
