The court has approved a warrant for the arrest a 63-year-old woman accused of lese majeste who is being assessed for possible mental illness, and a police panel has been set up to handle the case, police spokesman Piya Uthayo said on Wednesday.
Pol Maj-Gen Piya said the warrant was issued for the arrest of Thitinant Kaewchantranont, a Thai citizen now a resident of New Zealand, for lese majeste under Article 112 of the Criminal Code.
Mrs Thitinant allegedly made a rude gesture towards an image of His Majesty the King outside the Constitution Court on July 13, when the court was about to make a ruling on the constitutionality of the charter amendment bill.
