Parties in the coalition government have set up a joint committee to study charter amendment, Pheu Thai MP Samart Kaewmeechai said on Wednesday.
Mr Samart said the 11-member committee would look into various problems related to the government's attempt to amend the 2007 constitution and study the central ruling of the Constitution Court on the legality of the charter amendment bill and the opinions of individual judges.
The committee would consider whether the charter amendment bill should be put to the third reading vote in parliament in order to amend Section 291 to set up a constitution drafting assembly, or whether to amend the entire charter, or whether it should be amended only by sections.
