DSI opens legal aid centre

The Department of Special Investigation has set up a centre where people can get legal advice, DSI director-general Tarit Pengdit said on Tuesday.

Mr Tarit said the DSI decided to open the legal aid centre after receiving many complaints from the people who needed help.

The centre is intended particularly to give legal advice to grassroots people with little knowledge of the law on matters such as sexual harassment and violation of rights, which are not categorised as special cases for the DSI to handle..

    Sounds like a good initiative to me. Let's hope that enough capable staff is available, and that provincial legal aid centres will be opened nationwide soon.
