Rehabilitation plan approved

The cabinet has approved a rehabilitation plan proposed by the National Economic and Social Development Board, deputy government spokesman Chalitrat Chantharubeksa said on Tuesday.

Mr Chalitrat said the plan covers four urgent issues, as suggested by a meeting of the national strategic committee for rebuilding the country and future development.

We dont need a high speed train in one place .We need standard gauge track in all places with reliable standard trains like India build 50 years ago .

How will a high speed rail line improve connectivity between sea ports? Hi speed rail lines are passenger trains, not container trains.

But the biggest question will be how much control / involvement will Thailand have in the rail line? Will Chinese crews build, maintain and drive the trains or will local companies be involved?

Thailand does not need a high speed train system. It just needs to take care of the one it already has. The trains have gone down hill dramatically over the past decade or so. Of course, there is much more money in building a high speed system, so the politicians will obviously opt for that.
