Virabongsa: Inflation target ineffective

Monetary policy can no longer be solely relied on to tackle inflation, Bank of Thailand chairman Virabongsa Ramangura said during a speech late Tuesday.

The central bank has used inflation targets since 2000 and aims to keep core inflation, which excludes fresh food and fuel prices, between 0.5 and 3.0 per cent.

    What Viabongsa is talking about is currency targeting - the same strategy (or a variation of) used in the 90s that led to thailands economic crises. If the PTP is allowed to wrestle control of the BOT, thailand is in for another major crash. We really cant allow this to happen...
