Ariya advances in US golf amateur

Ariya Jutanugarn has broken through to the quarterfinals of the United States Women's Amateur Golf Championship after winning two matches at The Country Club on Thursday, reports said.

The 16-year-old Thai defeated Bethany Wu, an American junior golfer, and Ashlee Dewhurst of Australia.

Ariya, also the 2011 US Girls' Junior champion, will play against America's Erynee Lee in the quarterfinals.
