PM to lead 'stop corruption' pledge

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra will on Saturday preside over a ceremonial pledge to "stop corruption" at the opening of a project to promote transparency in government offices, PM's Office Minister Thamrong Boonsongpaisal said.

Mr Thamrong said the ceremony will be attended by high-level officials of departments and provinces taking part in the "one-department, one anti-graft project".

At the ceremony, the prime minister will lead members of anti-corruption networks from throughout the country in a pledge to "stop corruption."

You spout off well but what about YOUR ( fearless? ) leader. He is still running away from corruption charges. Oh I forgot he is untouchable.

Mmm is The Yingluck govt setting themselves up for ridicule here with a campaign doomed to fail since corruption is at the very heart of political stability and power in this era. Besides, this govt is doing what the majority of the people want and evidently the majority have no problem with corruption, so why bother.

The National Anti-Corruption Commission(NACC) ordered to confiscate 64.7 million baht of unusual wealthy assets from former transport permanent secretary Supoj Saplom is a good starting milestone of the PT government's "stop corruption pledge".

All anti-corruption drives should be welcomed (even if we believe that only politicians and officials who became "unusually rich" under the previous government will be targeted). Every time some one is convicted it may make the current generation of officials a little scared that after the next election they too may be charged with corruption.

This is just another campaign dreamed up by the PR of the government similar to the annual Road Safety week that we all know so well.

Android, your Red/UDD friends, should regret to have disturbed so much the previous government and prevent it to achieve many good things. Your are injust, unfair and deeply red fanatic. It seems no need, useless to chat with you....

Discussion 11 lancelot : you should realize that during the AV government tenure, there was not even one single "stop corruption" pledge brought forward by the dems.

It is a telling fact that corruption-related stories always are reported either in the news/politics or in the news/local section but NEVER in the news/CRIME section of this newspaper—online.

Until the media start reporting instances of corruption for what they are—crimes—we are not gonna get anywhere.

@loyhaasip1 #9: What exactly is the “attempt to at least make a start”? And do you think the corruption will get any better when all the farangs leave? Or are you just scared that some farangs wake up some Thais that you don’t have to accept corrupt officials and you can fight against them – at least you can try. I guess without farangs nobody would question “the Thai way”. And this is what you want, correct?
