Sukhumbhand to seek re-election

MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra has confirmed his intention of seeking re-election as Bangkok governor for a second term under the Democrat Party banner.

He said this on Sunday at a media seminar at a resort in Pak Chong district of Nakhon Ratchasima province.

MR Sukhumbhand said if he was re-elected, he would push for the opening of a halal food centre to draw Muslim tourists from Middle East countries. He said he was inspired by his success in opening a halal kitchen project at Nong Chok Hospital.

Discussion 12 : Yes, perfectly I am referring to "STRONGHOLD" not to the total electorate (get the difference, not too difficult ?). Of course there are voters of the Dems in Issan and everywhere. But except the real Centre of Bkk, the situation in the capital is far from being as favorable as your fellow want the people to believe. Even in the South, in some constituencies have been lost by PT for a thousand votes.

Not sure if he is the right person for a second round but he has learned alot in the last year about being a governer thanks to the floods, PM and PT. Bangkok needs a governer that is more neutral and can work well with all parties rather than trying to go partyline.

Disc6 Subcoman "The real truth is that the only stronghold of Dems is the few wealthy constituencies of Central BKK, that's it."

Reality check... 2011 election - Dems got 11.5 million votes - 35% of the total electorate.

Subcoman, your grocery calculation is so ridiculous... majority is majority
In constituency of Pakkret the PTP MP was elected with only 200 vote more than DEM candidate, so no matter PTP won, even with 0.05% margin, PTP won there is no comment to say
If some DEM MP win with 5% margin, he won there is no comment to say... majority is majority

I like my cat when is purring, not when he kills animals
You have rats because your place is dirty. Clean it ! Doesn't matter with the Cats !!!!

Oh no, once is more than enough. I prefer anybody who is closer to the ground, behave like ordinary people, have courage to accept reality and can say sorry I made a mistake.

Discussion 2, Dickemery : "but have no power over thr bangkokians 500 baht isn't enough".

So if it is just a question of paying 500 B, can you explain why Dusit constituency, just in middle of Bkk, was won by PT during last election ? I suppose voters of Dusit are uneducated farmers paid to vote ? or 500 B enough for them mayhem but not to the next consituency just next to it ? Note that 8 other constituencies of Bkk was won by PT. And that on 9 other constituencies of Bkk, the Dems won by a margin than less than 5 % (Bat Burana, Thawee Watthana, Bang Kha, Bang Bon, Phasi Charoen, Bang Phlat, Lat Phrao, Chatuchak and Bang Sue).

The real truth is that the only stronghold of Dems is the few wealthy constituencies of Central BKK, that's it.

In Singapore if any minister or mayor fail he or she will be replaced without waiting for another election, they do not allow failure to extend throughout his term, its bad for everyone especially the public will get more angry. Setting low tolerance for lousy politician or mayor is good for the country and everyone, just like you would not tolerate company employee for being lazy and bad at following instruction, you would rather fire him. Bangkok citizen should look for other good potential candidate to improve the conditions and image of bangkok capital even it is from PT, like China Deng used to say all cats are good cat if they can catch rats.
