No policy to bring Thaksin home

The government does not have a policy to get Thaksin Shinawatra extradited because the Foreign Ministry does not know the exact whereabouts of the deposed prime minister, Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul said on Sunday.

Mr Surapong said this in response to criticism that the Foreign Ministry had not done anything to seek the extradition of Thaksin.

Whoever knows the exact whereabouts of the former prime minister abroad can inform the Foreign Ministry, he said.

If red shirts know where to find Thaksin during his bday celebration, I wonder if surapong is telling more white lies or acting dumb? I guess both. These PTP politicians are to stupid to even tell a good lie.

Perhaps the FM is trying to tell a 'white lie' to the public about the whereabouts of TS ?

Can people just stop talking about Thaksin?

Sorry, but this headline gave the misleading impression that PT were abandoning their one and only core policy. Always read the small print.

Chalerm has cooked something up. Wouldn't be surprised if he walks across the border with a mob of redshirts, because at this point nothing will happen. All will be forgiven in a whitewash.

"Whoever knows the exact whereabouts of the former prime minister abroad can inform the Foreign Ministry" 'can' inform, if it was 'must', ....

Something tells me that we are moving towards something dangerous and probably even violent. Once the government realizes that their prong dong gimmicks cannot bring Thaksin back like a hero, there will be a lot of shabby work and loose strings hanging around. The government will loose the little interest it has in solving the problems of the people. It will also realize that keeping it's vigilante branch (the reds) active is useless. At that time we will need someone to bring an atom of discipline and sanity. Who can that be? I really dunno, the boys in green could move in and do better. This is NOT a wish, it is a real assessment of where we could be heading.

He makes me think of John Banner (Sergeant Schultz) on "Hogan's Heroes" - "I know nothing, nothing, in fact I didn't even get up this morning!"

Disc19 Genii - Would allowing him to return unpunished be the best thing?
Would allowing him to run the country from abroad be the best thing?

I've said many times that Peua Thai would gain a measure of legitimacy if they abandoned Thaksin (and his clan) and started running the country for all Thais, and not just one Thai family.

These people are an embarrassment to all Thais who can only lose face when they admit their nationality abroad.
