Huge drug haul in Chiang Rai

More than one million methamphetamine pills, or yaba, and 50 kilogrammes of ya ice, or crystal methamphetamine, were seized and four Hmong men arrested by police in Chiang Rai province late on Wednesday night.

The combined street value of the seized yaba and ya ice was more than 300 million baht.

Police chief Priewpan Damapong said police moved in about 11pm on three pick-ups they had followed to a hospital parking lot in Mae Suay district. They found 11 green backpacks and one fertiliser sack loaded with the drugs in one of the vehicles.

Well done?! Hope you're kidding. A big catch in terms of drugs seized - if the story is true - but again and again and again only the lowest in rank are arrested. The kingpins always stay scott-free. Most of us know why. Perhaps Peterl, "discussion" 1, doesn't.
