Finance slashes export growth figures

Exports growth in 2012 is now expected at only 5-6 per cent due to the impact of the global economic recession and the eurozone debt crisis, Boonchai Charassaengsomboon, director of the Macro Economic Bureau at Finance Ministry, said on Thursday.
The ministry had previously set the export expansion target for this year at 12.8 per cent.
It was clear that the Thai export sector has been negatively affected by the financial crisis in Europe and the global economic slowdown, he said.
