domdunn d4-'When any leader visits a trouble spot it is always for publicity purposes, no other reason' which is probably true in Thailand as the pollies were falling over themselves to get their photo ops for the flooding. Actually I agree in most instances politicians should not be at a trouble spot unless it is to bolster the morale of the people trained to take care of the situation which happens in many countries but not with PTP. This government knows there are no photo ops down there, lack intestinal fortitude and as Chalerm previously said he would not waste the petrol in his car to go there. That is why his Pentagon 2 is located in Bangkok.

Why not permanently transfer all the heads of security agencies and the Army to the south? This is the only place we have an active armed conflict so it is clearly be best place for them to exercise control.

When any leader visits a trouble spot it is always for publicity purposes, no other reason.

No serious person believes that the leader will learn anything from a visit that he couldn't get from written reports, the people who plan the visit are the same people that write the reports and they make sure that what the boss sees and who he talks to tell the story they want the government to hear.

No mention of what the staff in 'Pentagon 2" are doing about this situation. This Government has no guts and no clue.

He has been ordered to visit by the PM are we to deduce from the statement that he was resisting going or is it as I suspect words from the PM to placate the electorate in the south.
