August inflation up 2.69%

Inflation for August was up 2.69 per cent year-on-year and 0.4 per cent from July, to stand at 116.28 points, on the back of rising food and beverage prices, commerce permanent secretary Yanyong Phuangrach said on Monday.
Mr Yanyong said the average general inflation rate over the first eight months of 2012 rose 2.89 per cent on the same period last year.
Last month's core inflation, which excludes food and energy, increased 1.76 per cent year-on-year. The average core inflation in the past eight months was up 2.23 per cent year-on-year.
