US embassy closes to avoid rally

The US embassy in Bangkok will close from noon on Tuesday after being alerted by police about a one-hour rally by "several hundred" demonstrators starting at 1pm.

The embassy said in a message sent to its citizens in Thailand that visa and other appointments set for Tuesday afternoon will be rescheduled to later dates and non-essential personnel will be ordered to leave the office.

Many US embassies have faced Muslim protests against the "Innocence of Muslims" movie which ridicules the Prophet Mohammad.

so did they get a permit for this protest? ...or did they just go to the Thonglor Police Station and say they were planning a protest or demonstration ...how does that work...maybe they should take this opportunity to capture biometric information on these individuals and run a background check
in the event things go badly issue an e-tool to every police officer & provide additional instruction to swing it like a cricket bat with all your gusto

Once again the American Government has done the wrong thing, the Embassy should remain open simply as a show of defiance. This is exactly the same mistake harassing innocent citizens in airports because of some silly highly improbable threat, it gives a victory to terrorists since disruption of an enemy with superior power is the exact and only purpose of terrorism.

Has anyone seen the movie? It is a piece of crap. I was able to tolerate about 2 minutes of it before sending it to TRASH. Acting is like grade school, dialogue stinted, set and props so amateurish it is not funny. Why anyone could read anything from this piece of sh*t what they call movie, I don't know. Someone should feed the director/producer to crocodiles - not because of his beliefs but because the film is so bad!

Seriously US Government and some Christian leaders have nothing much to do as they just interested to create war or problem with the Muslim nation. Especially they love to make problem with the religion issue that create revenge back. Hope that American will stop this immediately and make a peace back to the nation.

If I were to burn a Muslim flag in public I would be condemned as racist but these people are allowed to get away with burning the stars and stripes and the union flag to me that is positive discrimination.
