Pheu Thai wants new truth panel

The Pheu Thai Party wants the government to set up a new fact-finding commission on the political violence and crackdown of 2010, deputy spokesman Jirayu Huangsap said on Saturday.

Mr Jirayu said relatives of the red-shirt protesters killed and injured in the April and May 2010 events were unhappy with the report released last week by the Truth for Reconciliation Committee (TRC).He said Pheu Thai MPs for more than 20 provinces in the North, Northeast and Central plains reported receiving complaints from red-shirts’ relatives that the TRC report was biased. They were unhappy that the report placed heavy emphasis on the actions of the shadowy "men in black" and their links to the red shirts' United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), said Mr Jirayu. The TRC report has won support in other quarters for its conclusion that both the UDD and the Democrat-led government of the day had to accept responsibility for the way events played out.The relatives wanted to send as many as 10,000 representatives to Bangkok to ask the TRC and the National Human Rights Committee to produce facts on the 2010 events, said Mr...

"The new fact finding panel will comprise members who are really impartial" said Jirayu Huangsap.
Of course, only Red/UDD & Pheua Thai members can be really impartial !!!

It is all becoming so, so silly! The Red Shirts won't be happy unless their version of the truth becomes the established and accepted Truth. I'm sure that a Red Shirt "fact finding panel" will be "really impartial", won't it?

There will never be a remote resemblance with reconciliation and peace with such divisive people calling the shots and demanding their own distorted historical version of the Truth as well as full punishment of the Army and Democrat people involved. Besides, the more they try to corner the Army, the greater the likelihood of a backlash from the Army. No doubt this is why Thaksin wants to control the choice of Army leaders.

There must be proof provided with the accusations, finding, results or it is just opinions and hearsay.

Yes let's find the real truth....thinking hard....ah yes, the army and the democrats did all bad things, the UDD where only in a peaceful protest.
See...no need for another commission, I just finished the final report for you...

No surprises there, if you're not happy with the version of the truth then hustle up 10,000 people in 24 hours (if that is humanly possible) and cite 'people's will and opinion' to get your own version of the truth. Such a charade! It will be interesting to see if their report is even remotely critical of those who appointed it, in contrast to the present one. Note! PAD and Dems are rubbishing the report because it implicates them. Too bad Yingluck has already endorsed the present one, now she will somehow have to come up with an about face.

“Pheu Thai wants new truth panel” should read “Pheu Thai wants new panel that will lie in their favor”. And of course this ‘new truth ‘should find no fault whatsoever with Pheu Thai, the red-shirts or Thaksin.

put thida and jateporn on the panel, now thats real democracy working in thailand and against dictatorship and also will stop all the graft ?

Didn’t get the “truth” they wanted so they want another panel. They only want their form of “truth”.

  • Discussion 1 : 22 Sep 2012 at 13.331

Why bother with a new panel. They could save a lot of time and money by just publishing the report they want. "We did nothing wrong it was all the evil Democrats fault."
