Khmer woman too scared to seek help

CHON BURI – An illegal immigrant who took refuge in a temple saying she had been raped and was pregnant was so scared of Thai authorities that she had to be coaxed out of her sanctuary to give birth in hospital.

Police and a medical unit went to Wat Luang Por Im in Satthahip district after receiving a report from a person living nearby that a pregnant woman was about to give birth there.

The Cambodian woman, named only as Ms Pim, 25, had refused to go to hospital because she was living in Thailand illegally and feared she would to be sent back to Cambodia.

How cruel a Thai man to rape her? I urge Thai authority, nurse and doctors at hospital to treat her based on humaniterian reason to deliver baby safely and return her back to Cambodia instead of putting her into prison.

Here problems is probably more complex than the short news reveals. Drugs, psychiatric issues are often involved in such behavior.
