Exporters to help sell stocked rice

The Thai Rice Exporters Association has stepped in with an offer to help exports of rice held in the government crop pledging stockpile, reports said.

The association’s president, Korbsuk Iamsuree, and other executive members on Friday had discussion with Commerce Minister Boonsong Teriyaprom and other senior officials at the ministry.

The meeting agreed that the Ministry of Commerce and the association would work together under the rice pledging scheme to improve the living standards of farmers.

BP could do a service to explain if the government deals are in the 5.24m tonnes - I guess yes as these seem to have been done by private companies. As this is an average across all rice types, it would also be worth to check how much of the 17.68% price increase is due to a mix effect due to selling more of the higher priced Hom Malee versus the standard white rice - where according to my research the average price over the first 9 months is around 8.1% more than last year

According to the ministry, a total of 5.24 tonnes of rice has been exported from January to Oct 10, with a total value of US$3.55 million at US$679 per tonne, up 17.68% from the same period last year.

There , now , that was not so secret was it so spill the beans, who bought it and when will they pay and when will you get the money ?
