Court rejects EC case against BJT MP

The Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected a petition by the Election Commission that it disqualify Monchai Chartwattanasiri, a Bhumjaithai MP for Buri Ram, and ban him from politics for five years for alleged vote-buying prior to the July 3 general election last year.

Mr Monchai was accused of illegally handing out 200-300 baht each to about 300 people including village health volunteers, tambon chiefs, village chiefs, and village committee members in tambons Kanthararom and Muang Phai of Krasang district who were attending a seminar on June 4-5 after he made a campaign speech.

The court ruled that the allegation was backed by the statements of only three witnesses, who were all supporters of the Pheu Thai Party, Bhumjaithai's rival in the election, and without solid evidence.

The peua thai use the same tactics as BJT party. Hypocrites! Their defacto leader Thaksin paid to get his red shirt and MIB to operate within the government.
