Bangkok Metropolitan Police have begun integrating wifi technology into the traffic control system to provide more up-to-date reports on conditions and to take action to avert or ease traffic jams in the city.
Pol Maj Gen Worasak Nopsittiporn, deputy chief of the city police, said on Monday the new practice of morning video conference calls between metropolitan police divisions 1-9 have proven effective in easing traffic congestion.
It was easier and quicker for traffic police to meet via video conference. It helped save on travel time and they could begin their duties as soon as people step out and head to work in the morning.
