City traffic police now using wifi

Bangkok Metropolitan Police have begun integrating wifi technology into the traffic control system to provide more up-to-date reports on conditions and to take action to avert or ease traffic jams in the city.

Pol Maj Gen Worasak Nopsittiporn, deputy chief of the city police, said  on Monday the new practice of morning video conference calls between metropolitan police divisions 1-9 have proven effective in easing traffic congestion.

It was easier and quicker for traffic police to meet via video conference. It helped save on travel time and they could begin their duties as soon as people step out and head to work in the morning.

D3 BTW , the first automated systems were installed by an Australian company over 20 years ago. The systems are there. Not enough room here to get into this subject. Even TS failed on this one.

Great , it is bad enough sitting at the main intersections watching Officer Somchai watch TV instead of the traffic, now he internet to play with as well.

The average wait time will double, at least they could leave the WiFi unprotected so we could all do some work while we wait-how about it ?

How about using an intelligent traffic flow system? I thought one was installed in Bangkok already, but I guess the police can do a better job by using whistles and manually changing the lights...

Amazing Thailand: The Internet exists since more than 20 years and now they start using it already. Wow!
And “they could begin their duties as soon as people step out and head to work in the morning” is another amazing statement. TiT
