Censure motion to be filed Friday

The opposition will file a petition on Thursday for the removal of the cabinet ministers to be grilled in a no-confidence debate for corruption, and a motion seeking a censure debate against individual ministers on Friday, opposition chief whip Jurin Laksanavisit said on Tuesday.

Mr Jurin, a Democrat Party MP, said after a meeting of the opposition whips that the dismissal  petition would be filed with Senate Speaker Nikom Wairatpanich, and the censure motion with the House Speaker Somsak Kiatsuranont.

Those facing the removal petition are ministers who were believed to be unusually rich, involved in corruption, and to have committed legal offences.

Seems the Dems know just how easy it is to be corrupt when you are in power and they can not believe anybody could be honest under Thai circumstances. Of course if they are corrupt, everybody else is too. Right? Why are they only interested to stop the PT from being corrupt when they should first have a look at their own party. That would keep them busy for decades. Sorry but, it looks like Abhisit will have to miss this opertunity as he will no longer be an opposition member.

“Those facing the removal petition are ministers who were believed to be unusually rich”.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but up until a year or so ago the PM, cabinet ministers and all Senators and MPs had to declare their assets – those not stashed away overseas - and liabilities prior to taking office and again upon leaving. This does not seem to happen now. Any reason for this?
