Drug-dealing father and son jailed

A father and his son were sentenced to long sentences of imprisonment for possession and sale of methamphetamines by the Criminal Court in Bangkok on Wednesdsay.

Apichart Niworn, 43, and his son, Apichet Niworn, 25, were convicted of bringing illegal drugs from northern provinces to clients in Bangkok.

In a successful sting operation in September this year, police made a false drug buy, resulting in the confiscation of 60,000 tablets of methamphetamine. Another 932 tablets were later found in a PVC pipe hidden inside a concrete pole in their house, police said.

I can't begin to understand the sentening guidelines here, absolutely disgracefully disproportianate for any democratic nation. For their greed these 2 do deserve to go to jail, but 50 years is just too long.
I mean you only have to go out at nighttime here to see that by far the country's biggest menace is alcohol, look at the abundance of drink drivers for one.

The drug trade is a trade like any other, there are willing buyers and willing sellers, they all know the risks & the rules... Yes some of the buyers are horrendously addicted, but many are not and can enjoy responsibly on occasion. Sentencing needs to reflect that better IMHO

I am from the USA. My state-Washington State legalized pot yesterday. It will soon be for sale in shops and it will be legal to possess 28 gram. The times they are a changing. Enlightened western nations will once again have to lead the way in repealing the “utterly Draconian” drug penalties of Asia from Death sentences to years and years in the asian sewers they call prisons. Certainly I do not compare Ya ba with pot, but a new way of thinking concerning drugs is on the way.

    Three police get busted
They sent them to Death Row
Now they’re out of jail and they’re out on bail
And that’s just the way it goes…
