KRABI - Police in Krabi have uploaded a video clip "The Truth from Krabi" to YouTube to explain the legal process in connection with the sexual assault of a Dutch tourist by a Thai tour guide and to counter the claim by the victim's father that authorities allowed "easy" bail for the suspect.

In the four-and-a-half minute clip, with no English subtitles, police say Krabi’s tourism sector had been hit hard by the "Evil Man from Krabi" clip posted on the internet last month by the father of the 19-year-old model.

According to the father, the tour guide was able to avoid police for about a month and he was allowed "easy" bail by the authorities after being captured. He also details other violent incidents in the in Ao Nang area involving tourists that he claims were covered up by the authorities.

Seems like the police in karbi are being called out and their response is to try and block the information .Kind of sad .

Our police is totally useless as we have seen so many times before. As clearly shown during the redshirt terrorist attacks in Bangkok, they are simply puppets of the fugitive and his regime.

Many years ago a Thai neighbour told me these type of incidents happen all the time but are hushed up so as not to dissuade tourists from coming here. This is nothing new. Also, the vast majority of the comments on the YT video of the father are posted by Thais angry at the way the police have been allowed (important point) to act ever since they were formed.

But it's not just the police, I am currently involved in protracted litigation whereby the local prosecutor accepted a bribe.

Tourists will be put off coming here if they don't feel safe with no recourse to redress. And I really don't see that happening any time soon, if at all.

yeah, I just can't understand why youths in Thailand don't speak English when they are learning in the school? If they learn and speak English well, so they can exchange information in foreign language with the Farang. Are students in Thailand very carefully to learn something new? or are they lacking of self confidence? I was in Thailand and I must try to speak Thai even I am not living there !!!

As a Dutchman living in Thailand I am absolutely not surprised by the reaction video of the Thai police. The lack of an English explanation of what is said in the video is a clear indicator of what is wrong with the Thai police and judicial system. Arrogance and even racism are a common characteristic and this is known even by Thai citizens. Foreigners are often seen as milking cows, an easy way to make money, but as soon as the foreigner needs genuine help Thai police cannot be bothered. Also you cannot expect them to speak English, they simply are not willing to learn as I experienced first hand as a language instructor for police officers.

falangsur: I agree with your statement, though it reads as if the victim was Farang, and the 'suspect' Thai, ya luem punctuation na kap dear. (Thailand is ruled by men but carried by women)

"I asked her when was a Thai wife ever prosecuted for killing her husband." I suggest you read the newspapers more often. It happens all the time. The Thai wife of a Brit acquaintance is behind bars right now under a sentence of death for arranging her husband's murder. (Look up Toby Charnaud on the internet.)

I don't like the news about foreigners mistreated in Thailand as it hurts the country's image and tourism. Rape is a serious crime and has to be punished with death or life sentence in my opinon. But with all respect for the victim and her farther: if there is any doubt of the guilt - the suspect will be granted bail even in the Netherlands or anywhere else in the world. Until a court proves the guilt - the suspect is to be handled as innocent. In Thailand - and the rest of the world. That's also a reason why many foreign criminals are able to flee to Thailand or many other countries. It hurts, but it's the legal system.

The new religion in Thailand is money. When the police set up roadblocks to scam motorists every other day, there are 20 police on sight. When a tourist is beat up badly and raped, where are the police? Money is everything that matters. I can only hope tourist start visiting other countries where they are welcomed and respected (Malaysia). Let the Thai's start raping and beating up each other when they run out of tourist dollars. Thailand is no family vacation spot. No one I know ever goes to Thailand anymore. There are so many better places to go than Thailand. Why risk your life for nothing in Thailand? Let the Thai's run out of money
