Court asked to stop Seh Ai's rally

The Pheu Thai Party on Thursday requested the Constitution Court to order a halt to the planned Nov 24 anti-government rally by the Pitak Siam group.

The request was made in a letter submitted by Singthong Buachun, a Pheu Thai member, who was accompanied by party lawyer Picha Wijitsin.

Mr Singthong said the planned rally was an offence under Section 68 of the constitution since it was intended to topple a democratically elected government under led by Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

can the coup lovers/organisers of this rally guarantee complete control over all groups taking part in their "peacefull" demonstration ? are they sure no part of their mob will not break away and cause trouble ? lay seige to government buildings or worse?

So there was also no problem with the yellows occupying the main airports in Thailand then???
Ai Seh or whatever he chooses to call himself condones a coup to overthrow the PT legitimately elected government? Quite correctly the government in power should be allowed to prevent this, albeit supposed to be a 'peaceful' demonstration, anybody condoning a coup to take control is flying against the constitution, and therefore should be curtailed.

Seh Ai said, if I were in power, I would stage a coup. That's all. Of course, the opposition wants to topple the government, but with peaceful means. The first protest was peaceful and nobody incited unrest or asked the supporters to siege government house or parliament or burn the city. And no such statements for the next demonstration. But the protesters may take things into their own hands ,especially if a court does not permit them to protest peacefully. Now, after the PT request , more people will come.

The constitution states clearly that the 2010 elected PT government regime will rule the nation for four years. But Pitak Siam group is trying to breach this constitution and at the same time plots to topple over the current government. Let the court order Pitak Siam group to stop any rally that incites unrest in the society.

What democracy, what freedom of speech. How can "20000 people" have such an influence? Is it possible there attendance predictions like the rest of the governments predictions will be way of the mark.

" No double standards" were the PT/UDD mercenaries shouting...... now they are apparently trembling....

  • Discussion 6 : 15 Nov 2012 at 19.016

Ridiculous, I don't know what PT are playing at.

I presume their argument is that whilst rallies are democratic, a rally that calls for the overthrow of a government by means other than an election is illegal. I imagine they are legally correct but the opposition will simply use this to accuse them of censorship and being undemocratic.

  • Discussion 5 : 15 Nov 2012 at 17.075

The UDD called for election, up to the Thai people to choose. The Seh Ai/friends can't call for elections because they know the result. So they call for coup and dictatorship, it's different and it's illegal.

Yet more evidence: PTP (Peua Thaksin Party)/UDD (United Front for Dictatorship against Democracy) are getting desperate and do not accept any opposition.

So a democratically protected rally is now viewed as against the constitution. This goes contrary to the rallies held in 2010 that pressed to topple that democratically elected government. What does this government fear? Are they afraid to let people express their views about this government in the same democratic manner that they themselves used in 2010?
