Seh Ai: No violence at rally

The anti-government rally at the Royal Plaza on Nov 24 will be shut down immediately if any violence takes place, says Pitak Siam leader Boonlert Kaewprasit.

Gen Boonlert made the pledge on Saturday as an economist warned that if the rally is prolonged and turns violent, it could severely hurt the country's economy.

Gen Boonlert, alias Seh Ai, also insisted the rally would not be prolonged and said there would be no seizure of any government offices as some have feared.

It would be very sensible to invoke the ISA before the rally.

Any rally which has the "aim" of toppling a government by invoking a coup must be able to incite voilence and then show that the government is not in control, allowing the military to get involved to fill in the power vacuum - which enables a coup.

If the ISA is invoked before the rally it puts into place a chain of command which include the military, therefore allowing the government to call on the military to sort the problem out.

If the ISA is invoked before the rally, there cannot be any excuse for a coup and therefore if PT are wise they will invoke the ISA.
