DSI: No warrants for Abhisit, mum

The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) insists it will not issue arrest warrants for former prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and his mother as claimed by the Democrat Party’s legal team.

In a press conference held on Tuesday, DSI chief Tarit Pengdit said the statement made by Rames Rattanasweng, Democrat deputy spokesman, that the DSI plans to issue arrest warrants for Mr Abhisit and his mother, Prof Dr Sodsai Vejjajiva, is not true.

Mr Rames, a member of the Democrat Party’s legal team, on Monday accused the DSI of abuse of power after it summoned the former premier’s mother for questioning about the handling of flood donations during the Abhisit administration in 2010.

@android #5: What’s your problem with AV’s “elite mum”? We should be happy if lots of other politicians had “Prof Dr” parents. At least for Abhisit it shows in his good behavior and excellent education. What is wrong with that?

It is not necessary to issue the arrest warrants, only provided that AV and his elite mum had approached the DSI interrogators with a fully cooperative attitude.

AV’s enemies will throw everything at him in the hope that some will stick on him; just politics, nothing personal. Well, if the DSI boss wants to better ACM Sukumpol, best act now, if he dares. Should they failed in their attempts, there will be others waiting to take their shoots at AV for the coveted prize sponsored by the man from yonder.

I think we all should be thankful to Abhisit that he still goes on as opposition leader and that he still fights in a fair way. I am sure lots of people would understand if he would call it quits because by now he must be really fed-up with all these crazy games by the fugitive criminal. What else will Thaksin and his cronies do to get whitewashed?
Abhisit is one of the few remaining pillars for real democracy in Thailand. Hopefully he stays on until more people wake up and demand real democracy and accountability from our politicians.

So the DPDS has the right to tell the DSI who they can or cannot summon for testimony. Why the delays on the donations proof. This in 5 years old already.
