Chalerm: Don't join rally

Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yubamrung has appeal to the public to stay away from Saturday's scheduled rally by the opposition Pitak Siam group, saying he was concerned "ill-intentioned people" may try to exploit the event to incite violence.

Mr Chalerm said Wednesday that security officers were worried that a "third hand" would interfere and cause problems during the planned overnight mass rally at the Royal Plaza. He made similar claims last week, saying that the third hand could be carrying bombs.

“I admit that police officers are concerned about the rally on Nov 24," he said. "I’d like to ask the public to watch the protest on TV at home, because the event will be televised on the [Democrat Party-backed] Blue Sky TV channel.

Chalerm. Actually attempted brilliant strategy by him :'I’d like to ask the public to watch the protest on TV at home, because the event will be televised...'

If they are home watching TV then no one will be at the protest. Who thought of it for him ?

Renaissance d.7, Maybe it's just sleight of hand.

Thaksin is probably amazed that everyone doesn't love and adore him. He's obviously getting so worried that he has resorted to having his cronies say that bombs will be going off right, left, and centre.

I love it when Chalerm speaks. Is this "Third hand" the same one he used to refer to, or is this now the "Fourth Hand"? How many hands are there?

The problem here is those organizing, leading, attending this rally will never call for elections but they will beat the drums for overthrow, coup, dictate. Watch this rally and it's speakers and see how many times you hear them calling for elections.

The lesson today is when it's time to vote. Vote. That is how democracy works. The PT are not dictators, they have a majority. There is a big difference. Dictators are appointed by force. Usually the countries own military.

RE: D1....who is desperate? someone wanting the democratic elected government to serve its elected term? or some one who was not democratically elected wanting to take over via military force? Seems to me those calling for a coup because they can't win in an election is a bit desperate.

I think that this may be the only time I have ever agreed with Chalerm but he's right, if you dont like the government vote them out.

  • Discussion 2 : 22 Nov 2012 at 00.272

well said khun Chalerm, if people don't like this government vote them out at next election, not join yellow mob calling for coup and appointed clique to govern and be answerable to no one.

They're starting to sound pretty desperate. Democracy in action is a pretty scary thing, when the shoe is on the other foot, isn't it?
