UN issues new climate change warning

The goal of keeping planet warming in check has moved further out of reach, the United Nations warned Wednesday in the latest of a flurry of reports pointing to looming climate disaster ahead of key talks in Qatar.

A plume of smoke rises from an industrial chimney in France in February. The UN is warning the gap between countries' pledges for reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 2020, and what is needed to keep warming in check, is widening.

Current country pledges for cutting climate-altering greenhouse gas emissions could see global average temperatures rise by three to five degrees Celsius (5.4 to 9.0 degrees Fahrenheit) this century, said a UN Environment Programme (UNEP) report.

spiceman#2, The age old Mayan culture was wiped out in a short period because of severe drought. Historical climate data show that cold weather in the Northern Hemisphere is associated with this drought. The reality is all is connected and the cold you experience may well be a sign. Please see the documentary link below, it changed my opinion, they are all facts, and yes Robbins our relatively late appearance on the scene as humans did make a disastrous impact on everything, especially the last few centuries.

The Earth has existed over 4 billion years and humans only a fraction of that. To think that the we can "save" the Earth is as arrogant as labeling those who disagree as "deniers", (like the lunatics who deny the Holocaust). The alarmist myth that global warming is man made and not natural is about World political control and massive transfers of wealth, not the environment.

I thought the darn global warming ended 15 years ago! By the way, over here in Southern California where I live, it has been getting colder and much earlier than ever before. Where is global warming when I need one?
