5 hurt in Samut Prakan pile-up

Five people were hurt on Monday when seven vehicles collided on an expressway in Bang Bo district of Samut Prakarn province.

Police rushed to the site after reports of the accident. A total of seven vans and pickup trucks were involved in the crash on the Bang Na-Bang Prakong elevated tollway.

All of the injured are navy officers included Rr Adm Pattawee Srisomwong, the director of the Navy Dental Centre, Capt Sommai Kijchela, Capt Pisit Charoenying, Cmdr Anek Panlaem and Cmdr Channarn Phuwaraksa, Pol Lt Col Thitipong Piwatwutthikul, an officer of the Burapha Withi Expressway police station, said.

    I drive in that area every day. The roads are too congested, are in terrible condition, and there are too many crazy drivers, plus zero police. It is a wonder there are not a lot more accidents.

    Sorry anyone was hurt, but those tight convoy groups of vehicles we often see here weaving through traffic are inherently dangerous and most times totally unnecessary. Hope the injured have a quick and complete recovery.
