The human remains recently found with the wreckage of a Cessna plane that crashed in Khao Yai National Park five years ago are definitely those of the missing pilots, Police General Hospital confirmed on Tuesday.
The hospital's director, Dr Jongjet Aoajenpong, told a press briefing on Tuesday that DNA tests confirmed the remains were Phakhin Thaithanom, a pilot trainer of Bangkok Aviation Centre Co, and his student Ranop Lueangwilawan.
Genetic material extracted from the bones recovered at the wreckage had been compared with samples taken from their parents. In both cases, the match was positive. The relatives will take the remains for funeral services.
