Pattani schools reopen tomorrow

All 332 schools in Pattani will reopen Monday after teachers were convinced by Education Minister Pongthep Thepkanchana that their demands would be met as soon as possible, Boonsom Srithongprai, chairman of the Confederation of Teachers of Southern Border Provinces said on Sunday.

The confederation passed a resolution to close 332 schools in Pattani indefinitely to demand a review of security measures for teachers after the director of Tha Kam Sam School was shot dead by militants on Nov 22.

As a result, teachers went on strike and the schools were closed last week, starting Nov 26.

perhaps the schools might open tommorrow, but will the teachers be there, and who can blame them, there is no clear policy from the powers to be,they have neglected their duty to serve all their citizens and instead pursued other goals ,that to them is more important ? l feel for the people in deep south, they should not have to live in fear, the future looks very bleak the DF minister appears more parnoid about reports on whats going on,if this situation expands to krabi or phuket,it would be a different ball game, and, it could happen
